![]() Show Notes: This is Episode #1 of the Live Well Podcast. My guest is the one and only Scott Keneally. Scott, an Experiential Humorist, film maker, author, journalist, human guinea pig, athlete, obstacle course racer, runner, husband, father and a whole bunch of other awesome titles. This episode focuses mostly on Scott's current life consuming project (outside of being a dad and husband), his documentary film Rise of the Suffer Fests. The project sheds light on the hugely popular Obstacle Course Racing industry and searches for answers to the question "Why?" Why are they so popular? Why are people paying to suffer? Will the trend end? What is the psychology behind people's need to accomplish such great feats of heroism or conquer monumental challenges? Scott has interviewed some amazing people for the film including Amelia Boone (@ameliaboone), Morgan Spurlock (Film Maker), Laird Hamilton (Big Wave Surfer), Mr Mouse (Tough Guy Founder), Will Dean (CEO Tough Mudder) and numerous athletes, celebrity personalities and specialists. We talk about the process, his journey and the upcoming release of the film in this episode. Scott is also an new dad to Raliegh and husband to Amber. We talk about how this project fits into these two focuses in his life and what it means to be a father and a man in today's culture. Scott first participated in a Tough Mudder event in 2011 and fell into a story about it's shady origins that made the cover of Outside Magazine. You can read "Playing Dirty" Outside Online. Scott's humorous essay about his first Tough Mudder can be found in the Bohemian. See videos from Scott's YouTube Channel ![]()
